ABOUT YOUR STAND UP PADDLE TOUR WITH 514ELEMENTAL

For those beautiful warm summer days, nothing can beat a leisurely Paddle along one of our incredible water ways or out on the Atlantic coastline from our North Devon base of Westward Ho! near Bideford, Appledore and Instow.

Stand Up Paddleboarding, or ‘SUP’ as it is now abbreviated to, is a water sport accessible to a huge array of people. We prefer to call it Paddle Boarding as for many people it is just as much fun kneeling as standing!

Using a large surfboard style board and a long paddle, you stand (or kneel) on the board facing forward, and using the paddle propel yourself forward. Boards can be of a solid construction, or like ours, inflatable using a tough plastic and 2 separate chambers to ensure rigidity with maximum performance.

PADDLE BOARD TOUR

2 HOURS

£50PP

A Paddle board tour is not only a fantastic and unique way to experience our beautiful North Devon waterways, but is also a great way to get to grips with your new paddle boarding skills.

Going at your own pace, we will explore different stance options available to propel yourself on your board, as well as some more advanced turning and paddling techniques for those who are ready and want a challenge.

Going with the tide, these paddle board tours can be made to be as taxing or as leisurely as the group decides, there really is no right or wrong way to tour!

Our tours run from Appledore or Westward Ho! depending on conditions. Both these locations have ample parking and are on bus routes.

All our guides are certified paddle board instructors.

Have a question? Get in contact with the team, or see if we have answered it below

What do I need to bring?

We provide all the technical gear for you. This is your Board, Paddle, Leash, and Buoyancy Aid. Wetsuits are included on tours, and are an optional extra with hire.

You will need to wear your swimming costume and if it is hot simply shorts and a rash vest/tee shirt you dont mind getting wet. As well as this sun protection is a must, and some water to keep you hydrated.

What is the minimum age?

Young people aged 12-18 are very welcome to join tours with an adult. Children under 12 are able to sit on the front of our boards providing they are big enough for the Buoyancy Aids. Please contact us with any queries regarding young children.

Is there a maximum weight/minimum fitness required?

We use the Aztron Mercury 10’10 boards which have a weight limit of 140kg.

Paddle boarding can be as leisurely or taxing as you wish to make it, and we generally say as long as you are comfortable being on your feet for a few hours of movement you will be absolutely fine.

Why are there no dates available?

Our SUP Tours are run at shorter notice as they are very weather dependant. We need little to no wind, and timings are due to the tides. Some times we can fit 2 tours in each day, sometimes it is only 1.

However we know this is no good if you are planning a holiday so please do just give us a call on 07565 621 446 or email info@514elemental.com and we can book you in in advance.

What happens if it is bad weather?

For paddle boarding the best conditions are calm summery days. Though the rain doesnt bother us too much we appreciate it is not as fun. Likewise the wind is the biggest problem for us paddle boarding –  too much and we simply get blown all over the place!

This means on occasion we do need to postpone sessions if the forecasts change at late notice.

In this instance we will simply rearrange your tour until the next suitable day.
